Power of Attorney
( P of A)

As part of your financial planning, it is important to have an enduring Power of Attorney document in place in the event that you can no longer care and look after yourself.

The Power of Attorney ensures that the person of your choosing is appointed as your  Attorney and can make legal and financial decisions on your behalf.

You can appoint more than one Attorney.

What is an Enduring Power of Attorney

( EP of A)?

An enduring power of attorney is a written legal document appointing and authorising another person, the attorney, to act on your behalf and manage your legal and financial affairs during your life time .

The person making the appointment is known as the principal.

At the time of making the Power of Attorney, the principal must have mental capacity.

After the Power of Attorney has been signed by the principal an enduring power of attorney  can take effect when you, the principal, loses mental capacity.

Your attorney should be someone you trust and is responsible.

Anyone over 18 years of age and who has mental capacity can make a Power of Attorney. It is important to have a Power of Attorney as part of your financial planning.
